This article presents written sources that make it possible to reconstruct the historyand appearance of castle in Kruszwica, built mid-14th century on initiative KingCasimir Great. These are primarily lustrations royal estates and Erik JönssonDahlbergh’s engraving included Samuel Pufendorf’s work De rebus a Carolo GustavoSueciae Rege gestis. However, basic information about Crusaders’ defensive foundationis provided by archaeological research, which verifies supplements previous historicalknowledge. Thus, results several explorations described, madeit secure remains fortress, its layout form, as well itslater fate 19th–21st centuries.
